The Beligar a a race of high dwarves that hail from the Elven home of Eriador. They are what remains of a kingdom of Dwarves that accepted the High Elves offer to leave the old world many centuries ago. The elves gave them the southern Ring Mountains and they made that their home. These dwarves lived close with thier elven allies and learned much from them. They became masters of working magic into metal as well as, becoming more refined as a people, learning to enjoy the arts and accumulation of knowledge. Their armies evolved into legions of highly trained Maguses, weilding spell and hammer with equal ferocity. Great wizards and sorceres were counted amoung their ranks. They forged weapons and armor of incredible power, indeed many of the great artifacts in Plageria originated in Beligar forges. Despite these impressive feats, their greatest achievement was the discovery of an incredible power source. They devised a way to transfer a part of their own living essence into their creations. Called Mobius Energy it allowed them to create marvelous works with astounding abilities.

Many years later, some High Dwarves returned to the old world to help their failing kin, the Goragar, in their wars against the greenskins. Through collaboration with the technically minded gnomes of Xroriat they created a new race of beings now known as the War Forged. This was the pinnacle of their craft in Plageria. Ultimately, even this was not enough to stop the onslaught that faced the Goragar and Gnomes. The Beligar that had returned to the old world were defeated at he Battle of the Golden Hall and scattered to the wind. Though, on occasion Beligar can be found leading groups of Gnomes and Goragar in the old world or are envountered as intrepid adventures, doing what they can to fight the back the evils of the world. However, such individuals become rarer and rarer with every passing year.

Those that stayed behind did not fair much better. When the great Feladrin attack, known as the War of Tears, came upon Eriador it was focused on the plain of Aslon just below the southern RIng Mountain. This flat open space gave the Feladrin the room they needed to open warp gates allowing their armies to poor through directly from Drathamore. They believed they could punch through the Dwarven settlements and lay siege to the High Elven capital itself. They were wrong. The Beligar fought like warrior poets and refused to give their mountain homes over to the Dark Elves. For 10 days of madding hellish conflict the High Dwarven Maguses and their machines of war held off wave after wave of Feladrin invaders. Finally the Eladrin and Elari fleets arrived and routed the Dark Elf naval forces. They then landed countless tropps upon the already blood soaked beaches and flanked the already ravaged Feladrin armies. Ulitmalety they won th eday, but the cost was great. Nearly two thirds of the Beligar had given their lives in defense of the Southern Ring and their race has still not recovered. Most believe it never will.

Beligar are often softer spoken than their kin and more cerebral. They are more inclined to song and art. They also tend to lighter hair and skin.

Standard Racial Traits

Ability Score Racial Traits: The High Dwarves dedication in both the forge and the library has left them strong and wise, unfortunately these persuits has cost them some of their mobility. They gain +2 Intelligent, +2 Strength, and –2 Dexterity.

Type: Beligar are humanoids with the dwarf subtype.
Base Speed: (Short Stride) High Dwarves have a base speed of 25 feet
Languages: Beligar begin play speaking Common, Elven, High Dwarven, and Dwarven.

Defense Racial Traits

Steel Soul Dwarves gain a +4 racial bonus on saving throws against, spells, and spell-like abilities.
Stability: Dwarves gain a +4 racial bonus to their Combat Maneuver Defense when resisting a bull rush or trip attempt while standing on the ground.

Feat and Skill Racial Traits

Craftsman: High Dwarves are known for their superior craftsmanship when it comes to metallurgy and stonework. High Dwarves with this racial trait receive a +2 racial bonus on all Craft or Profession checks related to metal or stone.
Magic Touch: High Dwarves are known for their ability to work with magic. Dwarves with this racial trait receive a +2 racial bonus on all Craft or Profession checks related to magic items.
Magical Appraiser: Beligar gain a +2 racial bonus on Appraise checks made to determine the price of any goods that contain precious metals or gemstones. In addition, when a successful appraise check is made on a magic item the Beligar may learn 1d4 magic traits the magic item possess.

Senses Racial Traits

Darkvision: Dwarves can see perfectly in the dark up to 60 feet.

Offense Racial Traits

Weapon Familiarity: Beligar are proficient with all non-exotic types of hammers, and treat any weapon with the word “dwarven” in its name as a martial weapon.

Special Racial Traits

Mobius Infused: As a spell like ability a Beligar can cast mending at will, using your character level as the caster level to repair damaged objects. In addition, you can cause damage to objects and construct creatures by striking them with a melee touch attack. This attack deals 1d4 points of damage and ignores DR and hardness. You must be able to target the object or construct with the mending spell to be able to deal damage with this spell.
